In June 1942, Krupp engineers proposed a 1,000 ton tank called the Landkreuser. This juggernaut was designed to carry two 11 inch naval guns and appropriate armor plating. Two secondary 20mm flak guns faced rearward and upward. The tracks on the treads were 24 feet wide to accommodate the tremendous weight of this vehicle. Albert Speer thought little of the project and cancelled it before a prototype was finished.
