War Casualty Oddities. The Numbers Are Staggering.

by Daniel Russ on November 13, 2011

More Americans died in the United States Army Air Corps than died in the United States Marine Corps. In fact, in WWII your chance of completing 30 missions was about 29%. That meant you had a 71% chance of dying in a bombing mission. Once completed, however, your job was done. The United States 8th Air Force suffered half of all USAAF casualties.
