Colonel Ed McMahon USMC (Ret.) Decorated Combat Pilot Dies.

Ed McMahon has died. I grew up watching him laugh at Johnny Carson’s jokes whether they were funny or not. He sold shoes and toothpaste and any number of other household items at a time when a variety show host’s endorsement would make products fly off the shelves.

He joined the United States Marines and flew 85 combat missions, particularly in a Cessna 0-1 Bird Dog spotter plane. He won six air medals and retired a Colonel. The California Air National Guard gave him a commission as a General.

He was the ancestor of 1st Duc de Magenta, Marshal of France who served under Napolean III.
