Lidiya Gudovantseva, Soviet Sniper, Killed 76 Nazis

by Daniel Russ on October 22, 2010

She was 18 years old when she decided that she wanted to join the Great Patriotic War against Germany. She said, “We feared that we would not be able to shoot and kill someone.” She probably had the exact same concerns that every soldier in any war had, whether they will be able to kill when the time comes. She was deployed into the Russian Northwest Territories. She and her spotter, Sasha, killed their first German soon there after . “All I could do was feel sorry for him. What else could I do? He was a human being.”
