Conflict Between The Russian Bear And The "Yellow" Japanese

Interesting depictions of the upcoming Russian/Japanese conflict which often relate to the attack on Port Arthur. Czar Nicholas II asked his cabinet to hire artists to begin painting racist depictions of the Japanese.

These were printed and handed out in the streets of Russia, meant to appeal to a large working class and an illiterate one at that.

The last poster is exactly the opposite of what is stated in the caption. It is a Japanese poster in which Russia is depicted as the hungry octopus that will ensnare everything in it’s tentacles
