Winston Churchill

After returning from a visit with the British East India Company in Bombay, Churchill attended a wartime conference. A brash American lady accosted him. “What are you going to do about those wretched Indians?” she asked. “Madam, to which Indians do you refer? Do you refer to the second greatest nation on Earth, under which the benign and munificent British rule has multiplied and prospered exceedingly? Or the North American Indians which under your present administration are almost extinct?”
