“LONDON — The Netherlands is looking to upgrade the software on at least 75 of its F-16s to cure some existing shortfalls and boost safety.

The software upgrade to the M6.5 standard also is being made with an eye to keeping the fighter viable until the end of the decade, when the F-16 is expected to be phased out in favor of the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter.”
