You know only a handful of these guys ever saw home again.

I know. It’s sad when you consider that in the end these are just troops who are told to go over there and shoot. It’s times like these when you wonder what happened to the rules regarding the care and treatment of prisoners. So many were kept after the war as documented by the release of some even a decade after the war. And they didn’t just languish around either. The work camps were atrocious.
