The Norden Bomb Site

Some say it was an expensive boondoggle. Others that it was designed to attract criticisms and defend American war planners. It was a computer, a tachometric sensor that kept track of actual airspeed versus actual groundspeed.

The idea was that the user could drop a bomb from 35,000,000 to within 700 feet of it’s target.  It was more like 1200 feet accuracy.

Sometimes the yield on the bomb made the miss count as a hit anyway.

It’s development was almost as expensive as the atomic bomb.
