More Astonishing Facts About US War Production in WW II.

by Daniel Russ on February 15, 2020

“From late February to late March, 130 ships sailed for Africa with 84,000 soldiers, 24,000 vehicles, and a million tons of cargo. Although the U.S. II Corps lost more armor at Kasserine pass than the Germans had massed at the beginning of the battle, those losses were replaced immediately. Other material appeared just as fast. ….When Patton demanded new shows for the entire army corps, the next day there were 80,000 pairs. There was so much ammunition in Algiers that it had to be stacked in pyramids and disguised as Arab villages.”
