While he was being held in a US prison in Fort Marion in Saint Augustine, Florida, Howling Wolf made art to tell his stories. Much of it was done on pre printed lined paper one might give a school child. Some of the these are quite beautiful. He rejected tribal dress for a while but watching a drought decimate his people he returned to his old ways. He danced Indian dances for a living and died in a car accident in 1927.
