A Reminder That We Abandoned Three Cars On The Moon.

by Daniel Russ on April 20, 2016

Four Lunar Rovers were manufactured. Three were carried to the moon on Apollo 15, 16, and 17. All three were carried folded and attached to the lover portion of the Lunar Lander, so they were left there when the mission was finished.

Which means that we left three cars on the moon.

The Apollo 15 rover is on the lunar surface at Hadley-Apennine ( 26.10°N 3.65°E ). The Apollo 16 rover is located at Descartes ( 8.99°S 15.51°E ). The rover used on Apollo 17 is at Taurus-Littrow ( 20.16°N 30.76°E ).

At least they are not on blocks with their engines hanging from a lift.
