These negroes were rewarded by their owners. Now if slavery is as disagreeable as we think it is, why don’t they all march over the border, where they would be received with open arms? It amazes me. I am always studying these creatures. They are to me inscrutable in their ways and past finding out.
Dr. Gibbes says the faces of the dead grow black as charcoal on the battlefield and they shine in the sun.
Now this horrible visions of the dead haunts me.
