It took an act of Congress to allow Black people the right to serve the very country that denied them equal rights. Of course the rednecks who populated the rank and file of the War Department were worried that “they wouldn’t be able to fight” and they would discourage white troops. All this dribble was proved wrong of course the Tuskegee Airmen left the largest war in history without every losing a bomber they escorted in and out of theater. Now we are just seeing rights and privileges extended to Gay people. It took an act of Congress to do that as well, and the persistence of the more progressive minds in the military.

A lesson learned this Veterans Day
