Kenneth Howard Norton Sr., US Marine Heavy Weight Champion, and World Heavyweight Champion, Dies at 70.

He could hardly talk when it was all over. But he was one of the first and only people to reign down enough shots on Muhammad Ali to soundly defeat him in 1973. In the first return match, Ali won a split decision that many felt was a stretch and in the third fight, Norton lost, however history sees the third Ali/Norton match as a clear win for Norton on a bad call from the judges. From 1963 to 1967, he served as a US Marine and competed in intramural boxing matches around the world.

 

Inspired by Napoleon Hill’s Book Think and Grow Rich, Norton made it into the Boxing Hall of Fame. He was a known as a truly great person and he gave much to those in need.
