Recovered Subs.

by Daniel Russ on July 24, 2013

I am fascinated with the chutzpah that armies or drug smugglers display when they feel they can invent and operate a submarine on their own. Many work very well and for everyone that is captured, there must be many more that are still out there clandestinely performing missions. The Hunley below sank the USS Housatonic by attaching a mine to it below the waterline. As it pulled out, it suffered some catastrophic failure, or perhaps the explosion damaged it too. Some time later it was recovered with eight skeletons on it. Drug smuggling apparently lucrative enough to buy a submarine or hire engineers who can build it for you. I wouldn’t be surprised if there were high quality world class mini subs being used in this manner.
