The Fallen Astronaut. A Ceremony Performed On The Moon Without NASA’s Sanction.

The Fallen Astronaut

Apollo 15 was the ninth manned Moon mission planned and the fourth one where people disembarked and walked on the surface. It landed on July 30th 1971.  James Irwin and David Scott had a Lunar Rover that allowed them to travel a few kilometers away and carry 170 pounds of Moon Rocks. They stayed on the surface for almost three days and did extensive testing.

Then they did something different. They left a small tin trinket called the Fallen Astronaut and a card listing all the American and Russian astronauts that fell.

The ceremony was not sanctioned by NASA.
