The old airship hangars in warehouse districts alongside the 405 in Carson are doing something that hasn’t been done in the United States in a long time. They are building zeppelin like-airships-for use in military applications. Today when we have such control of the skies, it makes sense to bring back the efficient airships of the past, only imbue them with dynamic new materials, new technologies and let the air move observation platforms, heavy cargo, medical facilities and more.

These are not blimps, which are shaped by the gas inside of them. These are zeppelins which have an internal structure. The airships can also support drone operations by providing uplinked pilot work stations. Barrage balloons will probably not come back. But the venerable airship is about to get a rebirth.
