Windom was born in Manhattan, born of parents Paul Windom and Isobel Wells. His grandfather was also William Windom and served as United States Secretary of the Treasury under Presidents James Garfield and Chester A. Arthur. Oh, and by the way, William Windom, was an actor who played so many memorable roles such as John Monroe on My World And Welcome To It. And he played Captain Matt Decker on “The Doomsday Device,” a classic Star Trek Episode. He also was nominated for an Emmy in a Night Gallery episode called “They’re Tearing Down Tim Riley’s Bar”.

Oh, one more thing. William Windom was a paratrooper with Company B, 1st Battalion 508 Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division.
