The Welrod Pistol Came With A Silencer

The Welrod pistol was created in the United Kingdom during World War II to serve special operations forces. The idea was to provide a firearm with its own built in silencer so operatives would not give away their position. Normal silencers could be heard because the reciprocating slide makes a sound during discharge. The Welrod provided the answer. It was a manually operated action. The gun was made to chamber 7.65 mm and 9 mm. It was 14 inches long and the silencer portion didn’t last more than a few round before it had t be repaired. Some of the guns were dropped to troops behind the lines. The gun itself could be disassembled in reassembled in moments.
