Andy Rooney

Perhaps the most famous curmudgeon ever, Andy Rooney entertained Americans with his biting observations about life for over twenty years. Recently he slowed down and in fact died one month to the date he made his final appearance on Sixty Minutes.

In February of 1943, Rooney served as a war correspondent and wrote about the bombing runs into Germany flown by the 8Th Air Force. He professed to be a pacifist and opposed the war. Once he saw concentration camps, he supported the war.
