M-1 Abrams Tank
So the news is that the US is going to bring in a company of M-1 Abrams tanks into Afghanistan. You know there is a saying that history repeats itself, and it amazes me that after the Russians had entire tank divisions all over Afghanistan and still had their asses handed to them, we are going to bring in a company of tanks and I guess THAT will cure that whole insurgency. We could put a million men in Afghanistan and it wouldn’t make one bit of difference in the long term, but in the short term it would mean blood and money to us. The fact is this could be a way to protect troops that are getting fired at unrelentingly. I can’t imagine how a weapon deigned to operate on wide open fields of battle is going to make a hill of beans difference in a country made primarily of hills and valleys.
