Northrup X-4 Bantam

Designed to test the edges of the supersonic flight envelope, the Northrup X-4 Bantam was flown by famous test pilot Chuck Yaeger. What this proved was that super sonic aircraft performed better with rear horizontal stabilizers. This was the first X-plane built with an ejection seat. It achieved .94 Mach.
