South Sudan gained indepemdence on November 9th 2011.

South Sudan

South Sudan split from Sudan on November 9th, 2011. It is recognized by the United Nations and represents the further splitting of countries that has gone on unabated since World War II. The Capitol city is Juba. To the south is Ethiopia, and Kenya, and Uganda. The Congo and the Central African Republic is on its western border.
